People say that Franz Beckenbauer is one of the best players ever to have touched football. Throughout his illustrious career, the legendary center-back has achieved almost everything he could, leaving behind a legacy still praised worldwide. But is Franz Beckenbauer in EA FC 24?
Unfortunately, the founder of the Sweeper role in football and one of the best defenders in the game’s history, Franz Beckenbauer, passed away at age 78. To commemorate the career of the German legend, many fans might want to include him in their EA FC Ultimate Team Squad.
Is Franz Beckenbauer in EA FC 24?
Unfortunately, Franz Beckenbauer is not present in EA FC 24. Even though the community has been asking for an Icon card for the legend for a long time, EA has yet to release any such card for the players to use in the game.
Even though his absence from the biggest football game is unknown, many players speculate that the only reason was FIFA’s brief ban on him in 2016 following an investigation by FIFA’s ethics committee. The inquiry was related to the bidding process of the hosting rights of the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup, and they banned him due to his failure to cooperate with the investigation.
This ban kept him from official FIFA-related football activities at domestic and international levels. However, they lifted the ban later in 2017. But despite lifting the ban and concluding the investigation, EA FC 24 or any of its predecessors have not yet featured Franz Beckenbauer as an icon.
Another reason for his absence may be his several licensing deals with Konami’s eFootball, as the legend has several cards in the eFootball title.
